Larry R. Wheeler, 81, entered into the loving presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 23. The heart that gave so much is still. This hard working dairy and crop farmer who walked so many fields, picked up so many rocks, and milked so many cows, is now at rest.
Larry was born in Mason on January 14, 1940 and graduated from Mason High School in 1958.
After retiring from 39 years of farming, Larry worked for Michigan Caterpillar in the parts department for 15 years.
Larry enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, golf, watching sports and spending time with his only grandson Samuel, as well as taking walks in the woods at the cottage (where he enjoyed seeing bear, deer, bobcats, porcupines, and turkeys).
He received Jesus as his personal Savior at Mount Hope Church where he was a member for over 20 years. He joyfully volunteered in the parking lot ministry and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are his wife of almost 60 years, Janice (Marquedant); daughter, Lisa (Rick) White; grandson, Samuel; and son, David Wheeler, all of Mason; brother, Dick (Shirley) Wheeler; brothers-in-law, Donald (Karen) Marquedant, Bob (Sue) Marquedant; sister-in-law, Betty Pratt; special cousins, Gary Ginther, and Andy and Cynthia Wallace.
Funeral Services will be at Mount Hope Church, 202 S. Creyts Road in Lansing on Thursday, July 29 at 11am. Visitation is from 10am to 11am.
In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to Mount Hope Church (Missions Department), 202 S. Creyts Road, Lansing, MI 48917 or to Youth Haven Ranch, PO Box 97, Rives Junction, MI 49277.
Special thanks to Sparrow Hospice workers Amanda, Jennifer, and Mary; your compassionate hearts are so appreciated.
