Kathleen “Kathy” Lucinda Heriford, 73, passed away on April 21, 2024 in her home in Mason, Michigan. She was born on September 26, 1950 in Carson City, Michigan to George and Leona Robke (Kavanagh). Kathy was the fifth of seven children. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Carson City and then graduated from Gabriel’s Catholic High School in Lansing, Michigan in 1968. Kathy married Robert Heriford on May 31, 1971 and their daughter Christy was born in 1974, making Kathy’s dream of becoming a mother reality. Beth completed their family in 1977.
Kathy is survived by her daughters, Christy Burke (Rob) and Beth Lee (Mike); her grandchildren, Genevieve, Spencer, Miranda, and Caleb; her siblings, Theresa (Joe) Mills, Mary Nakfoor, Barney (Cory) Robke, Ann (Craig) Rundle, and Margaret May; sister-in-law, Mars, and ten nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George.
Kathy worked many jobs throughout the years. She enjoyed helping people plan trips at AAA of Michigan, and as a greeter, she welcomed customers into Meijer with her bright smile and kind words. Above all, her most cherished and valued roles were being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Kathy loved the Lord, read her Bible daily and faithfully covered her loved ones in prayer. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going on walks. She was passionate about spending quality time with her siblings, children, and grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 26 at the Gorsline Runciman Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, Michigan. The funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4433 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, Michigan 48917; with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy’s name may be made to Justice Rising or Safe Families.
