Judith Carol (Herrera) Gold, age 66, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Perry, MI. She was born May 18, 1944 in Ann Arbor, MI to Ivan Xanthe and Barbara June (Follick) Monroe. Judy graduated from Hanover-Horton High School (1963), then attended MSU and graduated with high honors (1975) having earned a Bachelor Degree in Education and Arts. She was employed at the State of MI for 32 years, most recently at the Department of Corrections as a Department Analyst-Desktop Publisher. Judy loved to garden – her home was featured in the 2009 Perry Home & Garden tour; was very active in her church, loved to sing, play the organ and piano; had been active and an advocate for the local Right to Life organization. She was very organized and loved being the family historian. She was also an avid reader.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Gold; and brother, Gary Monroe.
Surviving are her 2 daughters, Sharon Monroe Herrera, Elizabeth Monroe Herrera (Jon Phillips); and one son, Bobby (Carrie) Herrera; and their father, Robert Herrera, Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Avrie, Sloane Herrera, Savannah Herrera, and Zachary Phillips; parents, Ivan X. and Barbara J. Monroe; brothers, Michael (Susan) Monroe, David (Elaine) Monroe; sisters, Deborah Jean, Linda (Donald) VanDenHeuvel; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at Aurelius Baptist Church, 4419 W. Barnes Road, Mason, MI with the Rev. Stephen Aikin officiating. Interment will follow in North Aurelius Cemetery, Aurelius Township. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI; and Friday at the church one hour prior to the service.
