Josh Smith, our loving Son, Grandson, Step-brother, Nephew, Boyfriend and beloved friend unexpectedly reunited with his creator spirit on December 20th at his home in Mason. Josh was born to loving parents Donald Smith and Lisa Langham in Lansing MI. Josh lived in Mason and graduated from Mason High School.
Josh was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important - the simplicity of living a life with those you love. Josh will be remembered for his contagious laugh, kind eyes, gentle heart and great sense of humor. Josh had the ability to light up any room he entered, and get the whole room laughing with his quick comebacks and monotone sarcasm. Josh was incredibly smart and a deep thinker with a natural ability to always know what to say..even if it was wildly inappropriate.
Josh loved video games, live shows, building computers, guns, and classic muscle cars, especially his Dads. Josh had an eclectic taste in music ranging from Eminem to Hardcore. You could count on Josh to introduce you to music you never knew you loved.
Josh loved spending time with friends and family, especially his girlfriend Casey, and her son Aaron. Aaron was the missing puzzle piece that completed Josh, and gave him sunlight when it seemed like all he could see was rain. Josh was loved more than he could have imagined, and will be missed every second of every day. He changed the lives of many, and brought laughter and love wherever he went, and for that we are grateful.
Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents; Sandra Langham, Mary Ann Smith-Griffith, great-grandparents; Irene Tropp, Howard and Fran Langham; great-grandmother, Betty Miloszewski and great-grandfather, Theodore Walter; his cousin, Carl "Trey" Langham III, and close friends Spencer, Camerin and Dinah Pitcher, and Craig Blackshear.
Surviving to remember Josh, and share embarrassing stories are his parents; Donald Smith (Linda Cook-Smith) Lisa (Joe) Vermetti; stepbrothers, Brad Cook, Joey, Jason and Jacob Vermetti, his grandparents; Carl (Marti) Langham, great-grandfather, Starr Tropp, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins, His girlfriend Casey Benda, and her son Aaron Yergler, close friends who were more like family, Dan and Megan Anderson, Anthony Pitts, Justin "Rizza" Robison, Al Leven, Alfonso Civile and many others.
In Lieu of flowers or cards, please hug someone you love and tell them how special they are to you. If you wish to make a contribution, the family would like any donations to go to Casey and Aaron at www.gofundme.com/joshsmithmemorial.
