James (Jim) Duane Dolton was born in Lansing, MI and raised in Bath, MI. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam. He was employed by the Michigan Department of Corrections for 29 years on the Jackson Campus.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; two sons, Robert (Jane), Patrick (Sara); four of the most adorable grandchildren that God put on this earth (according to Jim) Nathan, Allison, Jack and William. Jim has four sisters who also survive him; Glenna (John), Peggy, Penny (Duane), Bonnie (Mike) and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Roger; mother, Irene; father, Glenn; and his father-in-law, Robert.
Jim had a great sense of humor, an incredible work ethic, and a love of God and family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their activities, especially sports; Nathan in his football, basketball, baseball and even when he played soccer; Allison in everything she tried, tennis, soccer, and now softball; Jack was just starting his activities but Jim was really looking forward to watching him.
Jim has been a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church for over 30 years and he loved his Lord. Jim was also an active member of the American Legion Post #148 in Mason. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Jim had a couple of hobbies he loved, he loved collecting coins, stamps and schedules from the Tigers, Wolverines, Lugnuts, Redwings and Pistons. Jim enjoyed traveling but he really liked going to any place that had something to do with the Civil War. Jim and Linda would drive way out of their way to find a Civil War battle site.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
