On Friday, September 13th, 2019, Charles Henry Shaub passed away at the age of 73. Charles, known to his family and friends as Chuck, grew up in Lansing, Michigan where he worked as an engineer for General Motors from college until his retirement. At a party in Lansing he met Peg, and in 1968, they married, moved to an old farmhouse in Mason, Michigan (which he remodeled and expanded himself) and raised two sons, Paul and Nathan.
Chuck was a kind, loving, optimistic and patient husband, father, grandpa and friend who was always ready to take on a house project, share a cup of coffee, help a friend build a cabin, enjoy an afternoon snack of beer and cheese, lend a hand remodeling an attic or sing corny songs to his grandkids at bedtime. Chuck loved spending time with his wife, and together they traveled the world and attended many a music festival. He also had numerous hobbies including fishing, hunting and gardening. His pancake recipe is renowned among family and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Jane; mother, Marian; and father, Robert. He is survived by his wife Peg, sons, Paul and Nathan, daughters-in-law, Connie and Samantha; and his two grandchildren, Hazel and Quinn.
There will be a memorial service at 11am Saturday, September 28 at the Mason First Presbyterian Church (131 E. Maple St). Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, September 27, from 5 pm to 7 pm and on Saturday from 10am until service time.
