Shirley Richardson, born June 18, 1933 in Yakima, Washington, daughter of Clyde and Katie Hovik, has passed away peacefully with her husband and family at her side. Shirley grew up and lived most of her life in Marysville. She graduated high school in 1951 and attended Western Washington University (at that time College of Education), where she met the love of her life, Norman Richardson. They were married July 1955 and together raised two children, Leslie and Robert.
Shirley led a very active life. In her youth she was active with a variety of clubs and athletics. She was an honor student and active in Rainbow. In Rainbow she was Worthy Advisor. This involvement continued through college and then in the community. She was a charter member of the Marysville Soroptimist Club. She was active in real estate as a broker and owner of Capri Realty. She was on the original board of directors for Citizen’s Bank which later became Frontier Bank.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was always supporting athletic events and any other event her family was engaged in actively. Her flowers were always impeccable and important. She enjoyed her lunches with her high school pals and the annual class reunion picnics. Everyone will miss her smile, her can do attitude, the support, and love.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Katie Hovik and her brother, Elmer Hovik. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Norman and their children Leslie (Doug) and Bob (Pam); grandchildren, Jennifer, Robb, Jessica, Melissa, Anthony (AJ), Michael and Jordan; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trenton, Rylan, and Kaeson.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley loved donating to Children’s Hospital so that it where the family would prefer to send contributions.
