Jay Howard Visser of Marysville, Washington, died early Monday morning March 25. He was born in Bellingham April 23, 1946 and grew up on a dairy farm in Sumas with his parents, Lambert & Freda Visser, siblings Eileen, Robert, and Kathleen. He attended Sumas Christian and Lynden Christian High School. He joined the Coast Guard in 1966, married Harlean De Vries in Lynden in 1967. He retired in 1997 and has since resided in Marysville, Washington.
He then drove tour bus for Hesselgrave for several years. They started enjoying their retirement together, driving their motorhome to Alaska and many times to the east coast. The last few years, they delivered new Bluebird school busses throughout the state.
He is survived by his wife Harlean, children Debra (Virginia), Danny (Maneva), grandson Jay Owen (North Carolina), mother Freda Visser, siblings Eileen (Richard) Verver, Robert (Sharon), and Kathleen (Henry) Eekhoff and much extended family. He is preceded by his father Lambert and nephew Eric Eekhoff.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 30. at Sumas Christian Reformed Church, 700 Sumas Ave Sumas, WA 98295. Join the family for refreshments and fellowship following the service.
