Alexander Jeffrey Koch, 18, of Marysville, WA passed away tragically at his home in the early morning hours of April 22nd, 2016. Alex was born on January 5th, 1998 in Everett, WA. He was the immediate center of attention in the lives of his mom, Susan Solemsaas and his dad, Jeffrey Koch. Alex had an adventurous and free spirit. He loved to travel and a favorite destination was the family cabin in West Glacier, MT. Alex loved anything outdoors, hiking, biking, swimming, and he especially loved to shred the mountain with his dad and friends. Alex had his skateboard with him 24/7 and always loved the freedom of being outside with his board, baseball cap, and flannel shirt.
Alex was currently working toward finishing school and dreamed of becoming a police officer, like his grandfather, Ron Solemsaas, Sr.
The love for our beautiful son is evident in the countless friends, extended family, and the community of Marysville.
Alex struggled with addiction off and on over the last three years of his life. He had so much love and support, but the addiction challenged his decisions. His warm smile, great sense of humor, silliness, and deep conversations are what made him so very special. We want to thank the young people of Marysville for their amazing support, friendship, and love.
Alex would want to be remembered for playing loud music, riding in his favorite Honda, making his friends laugh, and kicking it with his best friends.
Alex is survived by his parents Susan and Jeff, his grandparents, Kay and Brian, the love of his life Briana Johnson, his best friend Tyler Rice, many uncles, aunts, numerous cousins, and extended family. He loved his skate park family beyond words.
Rest in peace our precious Alex.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alex Koch Benevolent Account at BECU via gofundme.com. Memorial donations will go toward a community project for the Marysville Parks Department.
