Thomas Gordon Haynes

Thomas Gordon Haynes, 94, of Martinsville passed away on July 21, 2014. He was born in Franklin County, Va. on April 16, 1920 to the late Charlie Issiah Haynes and Minnie Ramsey Haynes.
Mr. Haynes retired from Lester Lumber Company with over 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945. He attended McCabe Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Philip Haynes of Martinsville; a daughter, Darnae Haynes Ayers of Martinsville; a brother, Samuel Clifton Haynes, formerly of Snow Creek; grandchildren Tammy DeLong and Robert Watson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole DeLong, John DeLong Jr., Sebastian Lee Watson, and Analisa Watson; several nieces and nephews, including his special care giver, Teresa Eggleston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Motley Eggleston Haynes; sisters, Roxie Denzel Ramsey and Callie Pinkard Fortune; brothers, Pyrant Clayborne Haynes and Roy Wilson Haynes.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held on Friday 1:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Chapel. Reverend Lewis Harris will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
