He was born in Roanoke on June 29, 1943 to John Thomas Alvin Holland and Dora Willard Holland.
Mr. Holland served in the Army, retired from Miller Brewery, and was an Elder of House of Prayer Baptist Church. Mr. Holland was very active and loved life. He had been a member of Lynwood Golf Club, Smith Mountain Striper’s Club, Elk’s Lodge in Martinsville, and Henry County Bass Master’s. He was also known by several nicknames: Hollywood, King, and Santa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steven Craig McDaniel.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Davidson Holland of the home; daughter Jennifer Carol McDaniel of Martinsville, and future son-in-law David Terry; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Keith Holland and wife Tracy of Penhook; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn Stephen Holland and wife Connie of Martinsville; grandchildren, Jeremiah Craig McDaniel and Angel McDaniel Hunt and husband Eric; niece Courtney Holland; nephew, Jason Holland and wife Heather; great niece Taylor Rose Holland.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel with Brother Bob Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel from 5:00-7:00 P.M., and at other times at the home.
