In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother Annie Martin; first wife, Mabel Adams Martin; step-brothers Mack, Martin, and Randolph Wheeler; brother-in-law Roy Lee Prillaman and his beloved cousin Kenneth Simmons.
Mr. Martin is survived by his second wife, Linda Prillaman Martin; son Michael “Mike” Martin and his wife Kay; step-daughter Shawn Harrison and her fiancé John Boggiano; granddaughter Emily Martin; grandson Adam Martin; step-brother Bobby Wheeler; brother-in-law Larry Prillaman and his wife Monica “Nica” Prillaman; wives of his deceased brothers-in-law, Wendy Prillaman and Bonnie Simmons; and his special dachshund friend, Ginger.
Mr. Martin worked over 30 years at Southeast Container. He loved fishing, working with model trains and spending time with family, friends and Ginger.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at McCabe Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. G. H. Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to McCabe Memorial Baptist Church, 107 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, VA. 24112.
Those attending the services will be required to wear a face mask and observe social distancing guidelines in accordance with the Governor’s guidelines for Covid-19. Those wishing to remain in their vehicles in the church parking lot may listen to the services which will be broadcast on the church’s designated radio channel.
