Linda Lee Surmanek, 67, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Born on July 25, 1957, in Arlington, Virginia, to the late Stanley and Vivian Jockheck, Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Linda's life was marked by simplicity and selflessness. She was a compassionate caregiver, dedicating her working years to the care of others in daycares and patient transport services. She touched many lives with her gentle nature, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Linda was married to Chester Surmanek for 23 years, a partnership built on love and respect. She is survived by her husband, Chester; her two children, Michael Neumann and his wife, Teresa, and Nola Surmanek; her cherished grandson, Michael Neumann Jr. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sharon Bailey and Mary Jockheck, as well as three nephews and two nieces who brought her great joy.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her siblings, Beverley Hendrick and Scott Jockheck.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rosedale Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation, at Rosedale Cemetery, 917 Cemetery Rd. Martinsburg, WV 25404.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Linda’s name to a children’s or animal charity of your choice, such as, St. Jude’s or Berkeley County Humane Society.
