Larry Parks was born on September 19, 1955, in Logan General Hospital, Logan County, W. Va. to Frank Ervin Parks (deceased) and Hattie Mae Campbell. He was later joined in the family home in Omar, W.Va. by his brothers Rodney and Robert (Bobby). Larry relocated to Washington, D.C. with the family where he was educated in D.C. Public Schools and Prince Georges County Schools, graduating from Central High School, in 1973. He continued is education at the Lincoln Technical Institute studying automobile mechanics which led him to work in automobile repair and later helicopter repair while serving his country as a member of the U.S. Army Aviation Unit from 1983 to 1986. Larry's ability to quickly learn the skills in many disciplines and his compassionate, kind nature directed his work path through home care giver, home construction builder, group home counselor, and supply clerk/specialist. Ever seeking to train and be knowledgeable in his chosen profession at the time, Larry attained numerous training certificates, equipment operation certification and was an American Heart Association certified CPR Instructor
Larry wed his neighborhood sweetheart Renee Moore (deceased) and of that union one daughter Nikita Danielle was born. He was raised in the church and followed his personal relationship with the Lord throughout his life and its many twists and turns for him along the way. He accepted the Lord through baptism while a member of the People's Community Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland. Normally, a quiet person until he seized an opportunity to give testimony and witness to the goodness of God in his life. A giving and loving person to all his family, all he met, all he worked with and all he encountered. He was residing with, providing care and support to his mother in Martinsburg, W.Va., while continuing to spread his friendship and love to his neighbors and community.
Larry is survived by his mother Hattie Campbell, daughter Nikita Parks, grandson Lawrence Parks his brothers Robert (Diane) and Rodney, ne (phews Kevin Parks and Franklin Parks, nieces Tiffany(Maurice) Harrison, Lauren Parks, great nephews and niece. Also, cherishing his memory many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and those touched throughout and along the many stops in his life's journey
