Clark W. Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully in Homewood Retirement Home on Monday, February 27, 2017. Born October 16, 1922 in Silver Hill, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Herbert and Alice Grim Johnson.
Widowed twice, he was first married to Theo Rusmisell Johnson and then Elsie Horner Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Knight and husband Steve; and his step-daughter, Bobbi Rogers and husband Jack, all of Martinsburg.
He was Granddaddy to Adam Knight and his son, Stephen of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and to Megan Marsh and her twin daughters, Harper and Norah Beth, of Clovis, California.
Clark was also survived by his younger brother, Jack Johnson of Somerset Kentucky and several nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Tommy Hickman.
A World War II veteran, he served with the 83rd Infantry Division, Army. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer for many years. After his retirement from Consolidated Freightway in Winchester, Virginia he volunteered his time to the City of Martinsburg as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for many years. He also enjoyed singing with the Morris Young Retired Men's Chorus. He was Secretary/Treasurer of the 650 member South End Neighborhood Watch and assisted many of his friends and neighbors with organizing/explaining their medical bills and getting to appointments.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife Elsie in the early years of retirement and later on attending programs at the Senior Center when he lived in Martinsburg.
Friends will be received on Friday at Rosedale Funeral Home from 10:30am until the time of the funeral service at 11:30am.
Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
