Sandy Adams

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints,” Psalm 116:15.

Sandy was a congregant of The Hill Baptist Church, Augusta, GA., where she played the piano and organ during worship services. Earlier she served as keyboardist for the West Town Community Church of Evans, GA.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jeffrey F. Adams, of Augusta, GA; her daughter Sarah Jacobs and Danny; sons Andrew Leigh Adams, and Joel William Adams; her mother, Sara Grimsley Lee, of Glennville, GA; sister Jeanie Porter and Terry; brother, Bill Lee and Debbie; and sister, Patty Law and Bruce, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Sandy is also survived by her grandchildren Aidan Matthew Craig, Finlay Dean Craig, Maura Raelene Craig, Lily Marie Adams, and Anna Leigh Adams.

Sandy was predeceased by her father, the late Capt. William Eugene Lee, USMC retired, of Glennville, GA.

Sandy graduated from Richlands High School, NC; Piedmont Bible College, Winston-Salem, NC, with a Bachelor’s in Sacred Music; the University of Maryland, with a Master of Arts in Counseling and Personnel Services, and Bowie State University, MD, with a teaching certification in Elementary Education.

She developed an interest in counseling as a way to help others deal with life’s challenges. She was credentialed by the National Council on Family Relations as a Certified Work-Life Professional, and a Certified Family Life Educator. She was also certified by the American Association of Christian Counselors. She worked as a Family Life Program Manager at the USAF Family Support Center, Mildenhall, UK; as an Adult, Adolescent and Child Therapist, McCormick Mental Health Center, McCormick, SC; Case Manager, Georgia Psychological Services; Family Liaison Officer and Work-Life Professional for the DOD; and as an Access Control Specialist under contract with the DOD.

Sandy regularly played organ, piano and keyboards in churches in Georgia, Maryland and England. She also played keyboard and mandolin with John Brown’s Dream, a bluegrass-folk band; the Irish folk band Dé Céadaoin of Augusta; and more recently with an informal, folk-bluegrass group in Clayton, GA.

In addition to her lifelong passion for music, Sandy loved cooking, gardening, sewing, needlepoint, quilting and playing Scrabble.

Family will gather at 10 AM, Friday, December 13, 2024, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Rd., Martinez, GA 30907, and welcomes friends for viewing beginning at 10:30 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 AM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home.

Guests are invited to join the family for a meal at West Town Community Church, 779 North Belair Rd., Evans, GA 30809, immediately following the service.
