Born in Jaipur, India on May 13, 1948, Prem was the daughter of the late Sri Kanyalal and Smt. Kamla Kaushik. She was the eldest of six siblings. Prem married her soulmate, Dr. Kailash Sharma, in 1965 and their love took them to Augusta, Georgia in 1970, where they raised three children and built a community of lifelong friends. Prem's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her husband and their children, Mala (Jeremy Arieh), Sonia (Dev Kapadia), and Neeraj (Lisa Gandhi Sharma), along with her grandchildren Karina, Jai, Brij, Alisha, Nayan, Kai, Gavin and Leena. She is also survived by her siblings Madhu, Puspa, and Ram Krishna, and she is reunited with her departed siblings Radhakrishna and Sushma.
Prem’s kindness knew no bounds, always putting others before herself. She spread love and light to everyone in her life, embracing them with an open heart and open arms. Prem's life was a testament to love, strength, and selfless service. Her compassion extended to everyone she knew, and her family and friends were the beneficiaries of her unwavering devotion. She left a lasting impact on the Augusta community, co-founding the Hindu Temple Society and the Indo-American Cultural Association. Her generosity touched many lives, and her service extended to starting a Sunday school at the temple and a program to feed the hungry through the Augusta Soup Kitchen.
Prem's love for music was another facet of her beautiful soul. She found joy in playing the tabla and keyboard, and she shared her passion for the arts by teaching dance to young girls.
