Joy was a faithful member of Damascus Baptist Church where she loved participating in the Sunday School, she sang in the choir and she especially enjoyed the weekly gatherings with the ladies of the church.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Melville Andrew Dermit Sr. and Edna Elizabeth Isler Dermit; and her brothers, Melville Andrew Dermit Jr. and John "Jack" Dermit. Her survivors include her children, James Edwin "Jimmy" Darley and Schatzie (Deborah Darley) Green Culbreth; grandchildren, Andrew Green, Cherish Culbreth Danforth, Hollie Darley, Jenny Darley Fox; great-grandchildren, Haliegh Key, Skyler Key, Kiara Danforth, Bryson Fox, Dylan Green and Ledger Green; and sister, Sue Dermit Banks.
A memorial service for Joy will be held at 12:30 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Damascus Baptist Church at 6375 Ridge Road Appling, Georgia 30802.
