Joan Miller, ninety-one of New Bern, North Carolina, died peacefully Monday (Oct 13, 2024) in Evans, GA. Joan was born in Stamford Connecticut, the daughter of the late Louis and Edith Schwab. Joan graduated from Stamford High School, attended Katherine Gibb's secretarial school in New York City, and held several positions in the medical administrative support industry for over 45 years. Throughout her career, Joan was immensely proud of helping individuals and families receive world-class medical support. Joan retired from the medical industry in 1998 and moved to New Bern, NC. Throughout her life, she was actively involved in golf, bowling, family events, playing cards, solving puzzles, supporting local events, traveling to visit family, attending church activities, and taking long walks on the beach. All who knew Joan always commented on her cheerful outlook, integrity, kindness, sense of humor, and love for family and friends.
Joan met her husband Roger, the love of her life, in Stamford Connecticut on a blind date through mutual friends and they were married on 8 November 1958. Joan is survived by her three children, Wayne Miller and his wife Sandy of Simsbury Connecticut, Dawn Lesieur and husband Brian of Evans Georgia, and Marylou LeMoult and husband Ken of Portland Maine. A great-wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan has eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. With her husband Roger, Joan was devoted to her children and her grandchildren, both a constant presence at their many activities over the years. Along with both her parents, she was predeceased by two of her siblings, Charles Schwab and Mary Lou Schwab.
Relatives and friends are invited to a mass on Friday the 1st of Nov 2024 at Annunciation Catholic Church, located at 246 E. Main Street, Havelock, North Carolina. Mass will start at 10 am. Immediately following the mass, there will be a celebration of life at the same church location.
