Robert “Bob” Bostick, age 94, a resident of Jefferson, LA for over 75 years, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011. He was a veteran of WWII, Lieutenant in both Army and Navy, serving as an aviation test pilot and fighter pilot. He was promoted to the ferry command to escort admirals in the later part of the war. He returned to Louisiana and was part of the oil companies’ surveying team before becoming the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspector at New Orleans Airport on the Lakefront for 25 years and private pilot for Nash Roberts, hurricane meteorologist. He began a seaplane instruction school in Louisiana for the rest of his flying years until he retired. Recently he received the “Wright Brothers over 50 Years of Flying in Louisiana” Master Pilot award. He was called the “Parrain of aviation in Louisiana”. After his flying career, he became a licensed electrician and air conditioner repair man.
Preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Vigier Bostick, his parents Joseph Charles and Georgia Bostick, and his three brothers and sister as well as his great-granddaughter, Krystal Kulhanek. He is survived by his loving children, Roberta Simon, Dr. R. Douglas Bostick, Jr. (wife, Marie Domino Bostick) Cynthia Plaisance (Kerry T. Plaisance) and Maurice E. Bostick (Vicki Lane Bostick). He was the beloved grandfather to Liane Connor (David), Robyn Prosper (Jeff), Brenda Kulhanek, Denise Bostick (Gerard Gravois), Dr. R. Douglas Bostick, III (Gwen), Bridget Perry (Scott), Megan Kreuer (Keith), Dr. Kerry Plaisance, Jr. (Ellen), Corynn Badger (Brandon), Dr. Lauren Loveless (Ryan), Heidi Murray (Brett), Holly Canny (Martin), Maurice Marcus Bostick as well as the great-grandfather of Christopher and Lindsey Raspino, George and Colin Scheaffer, Michelle, Michael and Korynn Kulhanek, Matthew Gravois, Grant and Jane Bostick, Reagan, Olivia and Elaina Perry, Jack Douglas Kreuer, Elise Kerry Thomas, III and Leah Plaisance, Natalie and Owen Badger and Madeline Murray. Step-grandchildren include Patrick McNeill, Molly McNeill, Gretchen, Ashley and Niki Kreuer, Alex and Ronnie Gravois as well as a great-great grandchild Kaylee Weatherford. He also leaves behind one sister Alberta Byrne.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will last until 11:00 AM at which time a Prayer Service will be held in the Parlor.
