Ophelia Turner Camel, better known as "Lil' Ma" transitioned into Eternal rest on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 at the age of 83. She was in the presence of her loving husband when she made her transition. She was married to Charles Edward Camel, the love of her life, for 43 years. Mother of Ernest Ranson, Darryl Ranson, Wayne Ranson and the late Lyndia Williamson. Sister of Joyce Kennedy, Lois Turner, Lawrence Turner, Milton Turner, the late James Turner, as well as the late Louis Turner. Ophelia is also survived by her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ophelia attended Dillard University and excelled in her studies, graduating with a 4.0 grade point average. She served as the director for the Marrero Community Center and worked as a Housing Inspector for Jefferson Parish. Ophelia was very active in church ministry and was a member of St. Mary's Baptist Church in Marrero, Louisiana. There she served the Lord and sang in the choir. Ophelia will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
A funeral service for Ophelia will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana.
