Matthew G. Adams passed away Friday, April 23rd, 2021 in New Orleans at the young age of 23. He was the beloved son of Doyle and Lisa Adams of Lafitte and Bryan and Tiffany Casey of New Orleans. Matthew was born on June 25th, 1997 in Marrero. He graduated with honors from Fisher High School in 2015 where he played football and won the state wrestling title in 2014 and 2015. Matthew was born with severe hearing loss and strove to prove that a difference, such as hearing loss, did not have to stop him or anyone else from achieving their goals. He was honored to be asked to speak as a HearStrong Hero on two occasions, as a Cox Inspirational Hero and an Allstate Sugar Bowl Athletic Scholarship Recipient. Matt continued his education at Louisiana State University where he decided his goal was to become a successful business owner. In 2018 Matt suffered a traumatic head injury in a car accident but miraculously recovered. Although the accident left him with brain, hand and eye injuries, he remained determined to do everything he could to succeed and accepted his personal challenges with courage. At the time of his death, he was the owner/operator of Swamp Explorers, a canoe and kayak rental business in Marrero for the past two years. Matt is survived by his parents as well as two brothers, Christopher Schexnayder and Austin Adams; his grandparents: Doyle J. and Kim Adams, Nancy Ting, Patrick and Lanette Osborne, Jack and Millie McCandless, Roy and Kimberly Casey and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held at the church in which Matt recently found fellowship. We welcome his friends and family to share his memory in love and prayer as we say good bye. Please join us Saturday May 1st from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Celebration Church's activity center, 1915 Airline Drive, Metairie. Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
