Karen Cheramie Touchard

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Eugene J. Touchard Sr., her parents; Zelma “Tudy” Agoff Cheramie and Narris Leo Cheramie, and her brother; Donald Cooper Sr. (Fay).

She is survived by her children; Eugene J. Touchard Jr., Melissa Parria (Gavin), and Hollie Schmit (Steffan).

Karen was the loving grandmother of Eugene III “Trey” (Ashley), Monica (Earl), Meaghan, Chloe’ (Henery), and Gavin Jr. (Kallie), great-grandmother of Haley and Trey Touchard, Kippy, Lil’ Henery, Lena, Layla, and Christy Boudreaux.

She is also survived by her siblings; Norris Cheramie Sr., Clothilde Cobert, Nettla Camardelle (Randy), and Lottie Benett (Jim) along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was proudly awarded The Order of St. Louis on June 29, 2014 in recognition of her leadership and dedicated service to St. Anthony Church in Lafitte and throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Karen was dedicated to her Parish Church throughout her life, teaching religion classes of the youth, and always volunteering for church fairs and fundraisers.

Karen was a lifelong resident of Lafitte, spending serval years in Gulf Breeze Florida where she and her husband ran a family business in hospitality, after returning home she continued her hard work running multiple business throughout her lifetime all while effortlessly raising her family.

She loved to cook, dance, play cards and make trips to the casino with all of her girls, always enjoying her time spent with family and friends.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Karen’s life on Friday, January 29, 2021 for 9AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Luke Nguyen for 11AM. Interment to follow at St. Pius Cemetery, in Crown Point.
