Jamie “Big Jame” Lanier peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 26th at the age of 63. A resident of Luling, Big Jame lived life in a big way. He was the biggest LSU fan in Louisiana, and could be found any given Saturday during the fall tailgating in Baton Rouge with family and friends. Jamie lived it up, listening to live music, singing karaoke, and dancing whenever possible. He was a best friend to his son, and also a mentor and father figure to dozens of his son’s friends, always there to advise them and keep them in check. When his late wife died, he did all he could, even quitting his job, to take care of his two young children. Big Jame would do anything for anyone—all you had to do was say the word and he was there. Now, we imagine him blasting Rod Stewart in heaven with a Bud Light in one hand and a Dr. Pepper in the other.
Jamie is survived by his son Jarin Lanier (Olivia Miller), daughter Lindsey Saluppo (Nic Saluppo), brother Gary Lanier (Sandy Hoffman), nephew Kevin Lanier (Nikki Alcantara), great-nephew Kyler Lanier, nephew Lance Lanier, and dear friends Julie Shadrick and Phyllis Guidry. He is preceded in death by his late wife Lisa Lanier, father August Lanier, and mother Mildred Lanier.
Visitation hours will take place on Friday, October 29th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Lane in Luling, Louisiana, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral Mass will then be held at the same location immediately following visitation hours. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
