Grace Kokemor

Grace Burgess Kokemor passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the age of 85 in Hammond, LA. She was the wife by first marriage to the late Edward Parr and by second marriage to the late Albert Kokemor. She was the loving mother of Albert Parr (Zu), Edward Parr, Elizabeth “Carol” Stallings (Russell), Michael Parr (Valerie), Barbara Kokemor, Debra Curtrer (the late Kendall), Charlotte Kokemor, the late Harry Parr and the the late Cheryl Prather (David). She was the devoted grandmother of 17, the great- grandmother of 31 and great-great grandmother of 2. She was the daughter of the late Edward Burgess and Mary Romero Burgess and she was the last of her 3 brothers and 4 sisters who all preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as “Maw Maw” and for her wonderful love and care around the house. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived in New Orleans for many years, she later lived in McComb, MS and for the last year she lived with her daughter in Amite, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and will last until 1:00 PM at which time a Prayer Service will be held in the Parlor. Burial will then follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale, LA.
