Dawson James Guillot passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2023, at the age of 17. Dawson was born in Gretna, Louisiana to Krystal and James “Lil Tuddy” Guillot, Jr. Loving brother of Alyssa Guillot. Grandson of Irene and James “Big Tuddy” Guillot, Sr. and the late Sandra and Jeffries Blanchard, Jr. Godchild of Dean Walton, Jr. and Wendy Gagnard. Nephew of Nicolle and Keith Blanchard, and Kim and Kevin Blanchard. Cousin of Kyle Blanchard, Scott Blanchard, and Amber Blanchard. Dawson is also survived by other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Dawson grew up in Marrero, Louisiana, where he attended elementary school at Visitation of Our Lady School and later began high school at New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy. Dawson held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was intended to graduate in the Spring of 2023. During his time at NOMMA, he served as a peer mentor for fellow classmates and younger students, played baseball, and was awarded the role of Captain of the wrestling team.
Those who knew Dawson knew of his charmingly, charismatic personality, and his fearless spirit. His ability to make you laugh and feel loved with a single statement was unmatched. Dawson was the kind of person that people felt safe talking to, someone that brought comfort and serenity to others.
In his free time, Dawson enjoyed staying up late playing video games with his best friends, running a game of basketball, or working at Champagne Palace. After long nights of serving food to others, bussing tables, and setting up for events, he and his friends would unwind at the local iHOP, where they would joke around and laugh all night.
Dawson was a natural born racer and thrived in a competitive environment. His racing career began at birth when he raced into our lives prematurely, and from that point on he kept us on our toes. He was given his first Jr. Dragster at the age of 9 years old, in which he raced for 7 years before upgrading to a bigger and faster dragster. Dawson is known around the track as the “Money Man” and “King of The Parachutes.” #4305
