Robert Glen (Bob) Parten, Sr., passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin with the Reverend Kurt Rutz officiating. Interment will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 at the funeral home.
Mr. Parten was born on July 8, 1929 to Robert F. and Nadine (Wright) Parten. In 1948 he graduated from high school, then started to work at Southwestern Bell and married the love of his life, Frances; they celebrated over 65 wonderful years together. 1948 was a good year for the both of them. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1979 after 30 years of service. Bob and his wife made their home in Marlin for the past 37 years. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, making quilts and most of all his family. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of the Lutheran church, Knob Creek Lodge # 401 and Telephone Pioneers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Glen Parten, Jr. Survivors include his wife; Frances Nelle Moden Parten, son; Clayton E. Moden and his wife, Renee of Marlin, grandsons; Carl Moden and wife, Trisha of Marlin, Donnie Moden and his wife, Tahirh of Bastrop and Charlie Moden of Marlin and Nancy Kroll Moden of Rosebud, great grandchildren; Lane and Tanner Moden of Trinidad, Colorado, Dylan Reese and Clay Moden of Marlin, MaKayla Moden of Rosebud and Milaneah, Alicia and Cataleah Moden of Bastrop.
