Robert was born on December 29th, 1953 to Dr. James and Dorothy (Tostmann) Bussell. The Bussell family lived in Marlin, TX where Robert was raised with his three older siblings: Carl, Carol, and Stanton. Robert attended Marlin schools and graduated in the class of 1972. He received his B.A. from Sam Houston State University in 1975.
Robert married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Clark (also of Marlin) on June 1, 1975. Robert enjoyed a successful 40-year career in the HVAC industry with Lindy Dennis Industries. As his career developed, Robert and Sharon relocated to New Jersey, and then to Maryland. He retired as the Vice President and General Manager of East Coast Operations, and soon after they moved back to Texas to be closer to their families.
Robert enjoyed telling funny old stories, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, planning creative parties, visiting with his siblings, vacationing with Sharon, taking his kids and the neighborhood kids sledding, grilling on the porch, identifying local birds, reading the Marlin Democrat, and cracking jokes every chance he got. Robert made us laugh until the end. He made everything more fun.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carl. He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon Bussell; his children: Adam Bussell, wife Ali, and their son Henry of Boca Raton, FL, and Karla Mileski, husband Craig, and their daughter Jane of Queens, NY; siblings: Carol Jones of Montgomery, Stanton Bussell and wife Susan of Waco, and sister-in-law Nancy Bussell of College Station; cousin Suzanne Walzer of Danville, PA; mother-in-law Marty Clark of The Woodlands; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice of Conroe for their compassion and care. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
