Freddie Mae Kilgore Walker, 86, of Marlin, passed away peacefully early January 16,2021, at Providence Hospice Place after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Freddie was born February 27, 1934, to Fred and Thelma Spivey Kilgore of Chilton, Tx. She married William W. (Sonny) Walker, Jr. on September 21, 1968 in Marlin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Gladys Marie Kilgore Mitchell. She is survived by her son, William Wesley Walker, III, his wife Nancy Drews Walker, and their children, Will and Olivia, and her niece, Lisa Mitchell, and her children, all of Waco, and several other nieces, nephews, and their families. She attended both Baptist and Methodist churches in Chilton, Marlin, and Waco.
Freddie graduated from Chilton High School in 1951 and worked in the medical and banking fields in both Waco and Marlin until she became a Realtor in 1977. She and her sister, Gladys Mitchell, owned and operated Mitchell and Walker Realtors in Marlin for many years.
Freddie was born and raised in Chilton,Texas and later relocated to Marlin in 1978, where she lived the remainder of her active life. Following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2014, she moved to Waco to be near her son and his family. Most recently, she resided at Heartis assisted living and memory care, where she received so much kindness and the finest care.
Freddie was a tireless supporter of the Marlin community, where she was an active member of the Lions Club, Business and Professional Womens Assn., Marlin Festival Assn., Marlin Country Club Ladies Golf Assn., Marlin Chamber of Commerce, Marlin Civic Center, and various other organizations benefitting Marlin and Falls County.
Freddie loved to play tennis and golf, travel, dance, dress beautifully, support her community, and spend time with her family, friends, and beloved Yorkies, who Stacy Curry so lovingly cherished after she could no longer care for them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many for her sharp tongue, adventurous spirit, and peerless style.
