Norman Eugene (Gene) Bradley, age 80, of Old Fort, passed away on Fedbruary 1, 2014 at Care Partners Solace Center in ASheville, NC. Gene was born on August 14, 1933 to the late Logan Bradley and Rosa McDaniel Bradley. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Old Fort and was past members of Te Kiwanis Cluub, Lions Club and Sons of The Confederacy. Being a veteran, he enjoyed placing the American flag in Ebenezer Cemetery, and other cemeteries within our area, during each Memoral Day or any other special occasion to honor his fellow veteran's.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, R.L. and Bruce Bradley. He worked for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Old Fort as a rural mail carrier, following his employment with Old Fort Finishing Plant.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Bradley of the home; son, Dennis Eugene Bradley of Old Fort; daughter, Mari-Beth Hall and husband, John Bradley Hall of Nassau, Bahamas; three grandchildren, Daniel and Spencer Bradley and Marisa Hall. He is also survived by three great-great grandchildren, Fabian, Gabriel and Natalie Bradley.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort with the Reverend George Williams and david McHale officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the services at 2:00 p.m. at the Westerna Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Care Partners of Asheville and Memorial Mission Hospital System for the kind and professional care given to their loved one and family. Flowers are welcomed and appreciated. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Ebenzer United Methodist Church or Hospice of McDowell County. Kirksey Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family of Mr. Bradley.
