William Neason Cunningham, of Marietta Georgia, age 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 30, 2023. He was born on August 4, 1942, in Bristol, Virginia to parents Mary Viola Adcock Cunningham and Jerry Boyd Cunningham. Bill graduated from Virginia High School in Bristol in 1960. He was most proud of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in his endeavors with scouting. He spent several years at Georgia Institute of Technology where he became an avid Yellow Jacket fan. His college career was interrupted by his military service when he served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army serving a tour in Vietnam. Upon returning to Atlanta in 1969, Bill completed a Business degree from Georgia State University. Bill was best known for his love and dedication to the game of Bridge. He was a life master, taught lessons in the Atlanta area for many years and enjoyed playing tournaments throughout the Southeast. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothie Baker Cunningham, his parents, Mary V. and Jerry Cunningham and his sister, Toni C. Casey. Left to honor his memory are his sister, Lynn C. Kessler (husband Milnor) of Marietta, GA his brother, Thomas C. Cunningham of Roswell, GA and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside service will be held 1:30 pm, December 4, 2023 at Georgia National Cemetery with military honors.
