Born in Powder Springs, Georgia and a graduate from the class of 1955 at McEachern High School. He was married in 1957 to Peggy Smith Pilgrim. Mr. Pilgrim was an Engineer with Bellsouth retiring in 1991 after 23 years of service. His father passed when he was 17 and he became the man of the house. He worked at A&P Grocery Store in Marietta, where he met his wife of 56 years. He also worked at Lockheed and served in the National Guard during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He was an Ordained Minister even though he never pastored a church. He was an honest, hardworking devoted Christian and was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He was one of the few good men left. He loved to hunt and fish. He became sick in 2012 with stage 4 cancer.
Preceded in death by his parents Ernest E. and Grace I. (Hadaway) Pilgrim and brothers James E. Pilgrim, Roy E. Pilgrim, Bobby D. Pilgrim, and Raymond S.Pilgrim.

Wife Peggy Smith Pilgrim of Marietta
Son – Joseph Michael Pilgrim of Marietta
Sister – Sybil Herdon of Aberdeen, MS
3 grandchildren
15 nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Burial arrangements under the direction of Kennesaw Memorial Park.
