Shortly after graduating high school she was introduced through her mother and stepfather to Frank Wheeler, at an NCO Club dance and began dating. They married in 1960 overseas and 3 years later gave birth to their first child, Sheryl Lynn Wheeler. One year later Frank was honorably discharged and their second child, Terry Lee Wheeler was born. Shirley and Frank lived the majority of their lives together with their children in Texas where they both had very supportive family. A job offer for Frank brought them to Georgia in 1973. Shirley was a homemaker and eventually took a job with her husband at Curtis 1000 and worked there several years before becoming ill with cancer. They lived in Marietta and Smyrna until 2003 when they moved in their daughter’s home in Dallas, GA. They had their own apartment in Sheryl’s home. Shirley was a fighter and survived Breast Cancer twice, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and lived several years bulling Congestive Heart Failure and Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diabetes. After Frank passed Shirley lived with Sheryl and under her care as her health worsened. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
She is survived by her children, Sheryl Wheeler Barrett; Terry Lee Wheeler and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Jackson Fraley, Kyle Fraley, Victoria Barrett, Cortnei Lang, Macy Collette, Taylor Wheeler; 3 great grandchildren, Jude Haven and Piper; brother, Donald Rogers; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 20 at 3 PM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Chaplin Judd Henley officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 1 until 3 PM Friday at the funeral home
