Patricia was born in Marietta, GA in April of 1940. She grew up in Powder Springs, GA along with her three brothers and three sisters. She graduated from McEachern High School and pursued a career in the medical field.
Patricia was a pioneer in the medical field. She worked in it for over 50 years and blazed her own trail to build a career that she passionately loved. She began working in the operating room at St Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. She worked there alongside many renowned doctors for over 20 years. After that she transitioned her focus to vascular studies. She worked in the vascular lab at various hospitals including St Joseph’s Hospital, Northside Hospital, and then later retired from Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, GA. She was an innovator, mentor, and friend to anyone lucky enough to work with or beside her.
When Patricia wasn't working or watching the latest update on Fox News while sipping on her coffee, she could be found anywhere her grandchildren were. She was their biggest fan, cheerleader, and supporter.
She also enjoyed watching the bird feeders outside her window and the hummingbirds in the summertime. Giving them names as she saw fit and personalities to go with it.
She treasured the time with her German Shepard Schatzi and loving on her grand-dogs Rebel, Meeko, Athena, and Nala when they would come to visit. She spoiled them just as much as she spoiled her grandchildren.
She loved her family fiercely and without question. She was an ear to bend, a shoulder to cry on and a hand to hold. Her family was arguably her most important achievement in life and she cherished each and every one of them. For those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts will stay with us forever.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Inez and Noah “T” Freeman, her husband James Owen, and her brother Vernon Freeman.
Patricia is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Owen and Donna Fish. Her grandchildren, Ashley and Jonathan Milner, Alisha Fish and David Triplett. Her brother Norman and his wife Marion. Her brother Lynn Freeman. Her three sisters, Carolyn Ito, Linda Honea, and Jackie Woodruff along with her husband Kenneth. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, colleagues, adopted grandchildren that she treated like family and friends. All of whom she loved dearly.
Special thanks goes out to Dr. David Westerman, who even after retirement, continued checking in on her, even if it was just to have a small conversation. Thank you to the support of family, friends, and former colleagues that stayed in touch, visited, and called. She cherished those moments and time spent with her. Finally, to her loving daughter Debbie, who dedicated her life to being her full time caregiver. Her unwavering dedication to her care and well being was, without question, a sacrifice that cannot be thanked enough and is appreciated more than she will ever know.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Kennesaw Memorial Park Thursday May 4th at 11am. Arrangements are being handled by Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta.
