Michael “Mike” Burky, age 80 of Marietta, GA, passed away on January 10, 2024. He was born in Eureka, CA on May 30, 1943 to June and John Burky and spent his childhood moving all over the world (Guam! Cuba! Washington, D.C.!) as the son of a navy Captain.
He graduated from Tulane University with a degree in business and Spanish. He worked in the promotional products industry for over 50 years, where he made a lasting impact. His unique, colorful, and larger-than-life personality made a lasting impression on family, friends, and colleagues alike.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing tennis, cards, and indulging in a good meal. In his words, “you’ve never had a bad meal with Mike Burky.” He loved traveling, driving around town to find the best deal on gas, reading about history and politics (specifically scandals), and speaking Cuban street Spanish to anyone who would listen. His favorite activity was bragging about his family and his grandson’s beautiful blue eyes that conveniently matched his own.
Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Kimberly Stunkel (Daniel); and grandson, Sterling. His legacy lives on not only through his professional achievements but also through the love and pride he felt for his family.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted at Olde Towne Athletic Club on Saturday, January 27th from 2-4 PM.
