Margaret Muller

Margaret Cook Kordecki Muller, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19. Born in Birmingham, AL, she was a true daughter of the South, growing up in Birmingham, AL and Chattanooga, TN. Her parents later settled in West Point, GA. A chemist, she was one of the only women in the Masters Degree program for Chemistry at Tulane in 1950. Former wife of Don Kordecki, she taught High School and Junior High sciences in Cartersville, GA for a number of years and worked as a research chemist at Georgia Tech. Later, she retired after 20 years as a research chemist with Johnson & Johnson Research in East Brunswick, NJ.

Marge had a beautiful, soprano voice and sang in church choirs in Marietta and Cartersville, GA, Highland Park, NJ, Riegelsville and Doylestown, PA and in Savannah, GA. Marge served as Choir Director at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Marietta and at First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville.

In 1982, Marge married Andy Muller, Sr. of Reiglesville, PA. They lived on a farm where they both enjoyed buying and selling antiques and collectibles, until his death in 1993.

Marge later spent many happy years as a member of the Toe Tappers tap dancing troupe in Doylestown, PA and singing with Senior Chorus groups, performing for the community and local retirement homes.

When she wasn't tap dancing or singing, she was clogging, playing with her “grand babies”, playing the piano, scrapbooking, or traveling. She was known for her constant support of her family, attending many dance performances, swim meets, sports events, graduations, weddings, and every major or minor milestone in her family's lives.

Marge had a light-hearted, outgoing personality that brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She faced the challenges of life and old age with grace, dignity, and humor.

She is survived by her daughters, Patty Kordecki Stringer of Marietta, GA and Cory Kordecki Ethridge of Garrison, NY, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation, in Memory of Margaret C. Muller, to Union of Concerned Scientists (https://www.ucsusa.org/) of which Marge was a life-long member.
