On November 11, 1943 in Birmingham, AL, God blessed Lonnie Alford Kelley, Sr. and Lorene Odom Kelley with a son, whom they named Lonnie Alford Kelley, Jr. Lonnie grew up in Blossburg, AL. In 1961, he graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL. He then entered Freed-Hardman College in Henderson, TN before transferring to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL., graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1968.
Lonnie touched many lives along the Gulf Coast during his 42 year career with Southern Company/Alabama Power as an Electrical Engineer.
He accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant to the Lord and his people serving for 42 years as a bible study teacher, deacon, shepherd and elder in Mobile, AL.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents.
Lonnie’s memories will forever be cherished by: his wife of 54 years, Toni Emmons Kelley; son, David Anthony Kelley;10 year old grandson, Aidan Zheng Kelley; sister, Janet Kelley (Maurice) James, Mobile, AL; a nephew, Ryan Kelley James, Mobile, AL and a niece, Shannon Kelley Baldridge, Sharpsburg, GA .
A memorial service to commemorate his life is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM from the East Cobb Church of Christ, 5240 Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30062.
