Katie Marie (Woodson) Major, 84 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia; daughter to the late Grover and Nettie Lou (Daniel) Woodson.
Katie was wife to Wilford M. Major, whom she shared 37 years of marriage at the time of his death in 1994. She lived her whole life in Georgia, was proud to have grown up in Atlanta, was a long-time resident of Dekalb County and spent her later years in Douglas County near nieces Louise, Linda and caring family. She was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed her daily soap operas, was an avid word search player and storyteller. Her grandchildren, who called her “Nanny” were the light of her life. She most loved spending time with close family and friends.
Katie is survived by: Son, William Marshall Major, wife Deborah of Dacula, GA and Son, Dennis Scott Major of Douglasville, GA. Grandchildren: Brandon Major (Dacula, GA), Brittany Major (Winder, GA) and Michael Major (Chantilly, VA). Great Grandchildren: Triston Major, Gabe Solis and Jackson Dorsey. Her Brother: Floyd Woodson (Jasper, GA), Sister: Lois Woodson (Dallas, GA) and very special loving Nieces & Nephews. She was proceeded in death by: Son, Jeffery Steven Major, several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews whom we know will be waiting in heaven to hold her in their loving arms.
The family will receive guest between the hours of 4:30 – 7:30 PM on Friday, July 10th at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel (Marietta, GA), the funeral home has taken extra precautions to assure social distancing while in the building. Due to the virus, the funeral / burial service will be graveside at Crest Lawn Memorial Park (Atlanta, GA), Saturday, July 11 @ 3PM. Please join us as we celebrate the life of Katie Marie Major.
