December 14, 2021. This was the last time that I would ever see Jeff. We first met as brand reps at Abercrombie at the notorious Cumberland Mall in the June of 2001. We spent that summer either at work, on the basketball court or living it up in Atlanta. I was new to Georgia, on my way to school in Savannah, and Jeff was not just a tour guide, but my first friend in my new home state. We remained close through college, him at GA Tech and me at SCAD. Post grad, work would often take me to Atlanta where we would almost always meet up for a coffee, just to say 'hi' and catch up. Although we have not been close for years, we managed to meet up in the winter of 2021 for a beer and some trivia. Was an awesome night with an outstanding human being. Jeff, you will be truly missed and my heart and prayers go out to your family.

 This was our first ride on a subway train in Tokyo, Jeff. I remember it was the first time we actually had to communicate with the locals to get to where we were going. We were clueless! It was all so crazy. I remember that sushi dinner we had with you, me and Susan, and the execs from Sony in that swank sushi bar that was located underground. We didn't even know what we were eating but it was amazing. Every memory I had was like that with you. Whether it was you and I talking about our families, and our babies, or whether it was heading to the next gig. Jeff, you'll be missed by all of us, and my heart goes out to your entire family. Rest in peace, my friend.

Jeff shared kindness, wisdom and love for life. I was blessed to spend time with Jeff on many calls and meetings. We always talked lots about our families. I felt like a part of his family and I think he felt like he was part of mine.  I will miss those calls and I will miss Jeff. His death is a tremendous loss, but his passion and goodness will always be there for me. 

Jeff and I are neighbors and friends. One of our first conversations was over the name of my wireless network "Go Jackets". In all of our conversations Jeff always focused on the things you said. He listened not just politely, but because he actually cared. He was always the first to reach out to wish Happy Birthday, or Merry Christmas and I have more than one text message from him checking in on us because I accidentally left the garage door open. 
Jeff was a giving person. He gave of himself fully. I knew I could text him to get his help no matter what the situation. "Headed to Costco can I pick anything up for you" is a text I have from him during the first days of Covid. "Dropped off a dozen donuts at your door, didn't ring the bell to avoid waking anyone up" is another.  
Jeff called me "Brother Aaron" not because we were literally brothers but because we have the same Heavenly Father. While my heart is so sad to lose a friend and to know the heartache his family is going through. I am comforted to know that Jeff had trusted Christ as his Savior and today he is healed and is rejoicing over his faith becoming sight. Jeff's testimony was clear and his life reflected the goodness and love of our Savior.

I got to know Jeff through the Upwards Basketball program.  We first bonded over going to Georgia Tech, talking about sports, our work in the engineering space, etc.  Later, his daughter would be on my team and for the season, he became my assistant coach.  We'd joke constantly and I'll always remember his laugh.   He challenged me to always believe in the potential in others, and I believe he lived his life like that.  Jeff was a man of many talents - entrepreneurial in almost every way, successful in many pursuits, but his nature remained humble and caring for others.   I'm thankful for his impact on my life, and my heart and prayers go out to his family.



Jeff would call me Auntie CJ. I watched a little boy become a brilliant, humble and amazing man. Jeff always made me smile and his eyes would sparkle when we talked, hugged or just passed each other in the hall. My heart breaks for sweet Lang, John and the entire Vuu and La family. Words can’t express my sadness. 

Jeff was a great friend and colleague. I loved working with him over the past few years, and I have always admired his sincerity and commitment. He was able to handle several tough circumstances with a cool head and was able to bring out the best out of any situation. Working with him was always an absolute pleasure, and he will be missed dearly by those who knew him. My deepest condolences to his family, and may he Rest in Peace. 

I can't believe he is gone.. Jeff was such a kind-hearted and welcoming personality; every time I met him for work or outside of work we connected really well and became good friends; I regret not being in touch with him over last several months.. My prayers for his soul to rest in peace and for strength to his family in this difficult time.

Working with Jeff it was just plain and clear that he was a solid, decent, upstanding and caring person.  I cherish the few times we were able to chat face to face and I was able to see him laugh and witness that infectious smile.  May he Rest in Peace.  

Jeff was a colleague, but later became a  good friend when we shared our faith.   His quiet demeanor, thoughtfulness, kind heart, and patience stood out immediately to me.  Unlike myself, I never saw him lose his temper, nor say anything negative about anyone.   Wise beyond his years, I learned a lot from just conversing with him regarding challenges at work and just life in general.   He truly was the fruit of the spirit in his walk with the Lord.   By his actions, he made me a better person.   He was a beacon of light to all he touched.   I will miss him immensely.  

Growing up, I looked up to Jeff to the absolute fullest. He was my idea of what “success” looked like and I wish I would’ve gotten the chance to tell him that. He made such a big impact on my life and he doesn’t even know it. At his birthday party one year, he told me that he was so proud of me and to me, those simple words meant the world, because I had always looked up to him. He was truly a beautiful person both inside and outside. He was kind-heart, brilliant, outgoing and always had the best smile and attitude in a room. Jeff La could light up a room the moment he walked in. He had a way with people which made him an amazing leader and communicator. I could tell just by his interactions that he was a great son and amazing father to his beautiful children. He was a role model for many. I hope to continue to make him proud. I wish I could tell him how far I’ve come from that little girl who was so scared when she first moved to America. I wish I could tell him how far I’ve grown and how he inspired me through it all. I will miss Jeff so much, but his memory will forever live on in my heart. 

I worked with Jeff as a customer, a peer, and  for a time he was my direct supervisor.  One time I was working at a client on an implementation and they had complex requirements.  Jeff wanted me to suggest they a particular feature of the software.  Jeff fully understood the power of this functionality but I didn't and refused to suggest it.   He could have overruled me, but that was not his style.  The implementation went fine without using this feature and for the last 9 years that interaction has been a running inside joke.  

I will miss Jeff very much as one of the kindest, most reasonable, and brightest people I have ever worked with over a thirty-year career.  My sincere condolences to all who knew Jeff and especially his family during this difficult time.


My heart hurts. He was a true brother-in-Christ. We were in the same Men's Bible Study, (oddly I thought he was my age when I invited him, but he was 8 years older). We laughed, prayed, and encouraged one another. Even after I left for seminary, we did our best to stay in touch and update each other about our lives. 

The first thing that captivated me was how genuine he was. He cared. He loved others authentically. I appreciate every moment I was able to spend with him and his family. We always had great, insightful conversations. He supported me in so many ways, and I always tried to support him when I could. I pray that his memory will never be forgotten. 

This news saddens me so much!  Jeff was such a vibrant, go-lucky and happy person.  He would always be smiling in the office or at kick-off.  I would always get his and John's name mixed up but never once did Jeff made me feel bad about that.  My deepest and sincerest condolences to the family.  He was taken way too soon.  Rest in peace my friend, and may you be united with your loved ones one day!

Jeff was such a sweet and caring person. Even when I was on a call and couldn’t see his face, I could hear his smile. I always knew that if something needed to get done, Jeff would make it happen. He had wonderful relationships with his partners and always went out of his way to do the right thing. He will be greatly missed.
