“She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes. And I knew without askin’ she was into the blues. She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls. I knew right away she was not like other girls.” ~Grateful Dead

Jana was born in Spring Grove, Illinois on July 22, 1971 and was known as a sweet and joyful child that always had a smile on her face. She graduated from St. Bede Catholic School (Ingleside, IL) and Carmel Catholic High School (Mundelein, IL) before attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

She enjoyed travelling, gardening and loved the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. She was so excited to see both win the World Series during her lifetime. She was a beloved aunt that spoiled Sophia and Mateo.
Her happy place was at her mountain home in Blue Ridge, Georgia with Michael. They enjoyed cooking, kayaking and visiting breweries together.
Jana cherished being surrounded by her friends. She had an insatiable zest for life, a twinkle in her eye and a dimple in her cheek that would charm anyone, and a light that will never dim.
“You can remember only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind and feel empty, or you can do what she would want. Smile, Open your heart, Love…and go on.” ~Elizabeth Ammons
