Jack Elliott Wilson, a beloved member of the Marietta community, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 95. He was born on March 13, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and most recently resided in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Jack had a passion for traveling, reading, and obtaining knowledge. He believed in the importance of giving back to others and always emphasized this to his family. He was a dedicated member of various community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Marietta Jaycees, Marietta Masonic Temple and the Kiwanis Club of Marietta.
With a BA from Vanderbilt University, USAF 2nd Lieutenant in the Korean War, and a JD from Emory University, Jack was an accomplished Insurance Broker with three locations, a mortgage and real estate broker. He made significant contributions to the community with the co-founding of Leadership Cobb, the founding of Honorary Commanders and Partners in Education while serving as the Director and VP with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and winning the Len Gilbert Award. In recognition of his outstanding community involvement, he was honored as the Marietta Citizen of the Year in 1973. He was President of the Marietta Country Club in 1971 and was instrumental in moving the club to its current location. Jack also was a member of the Downtown Marietta Development Authority and was vital in the redevelopment of the Marietta Square.
Jack was a devoted member of the Marietta First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board, 1976 Director of Youth Camp, the Singing Christmas Tree and Vampire Valley. He was also involved in various community organizations, including the Honorary Commanders, Marietta Museum of Art, the Cobb Youth Museum, Friends of the Strand, Cobb Community Foundation and the Cobb Symphony.
Jack was preceded in death by Mary Ann Wilson, first wife and his second wife, Thespina Wilson. He is survived by his loving daughters, Laura Wilson Harding and Melanie Leonard (Charles), and his son, William Moore (Jill). He was a cherished grandfather to Mary Claire Hopkins (Paul), Andrew Harding (Hillary), Wilson Harding (Alexis), Meghan Stauts (Mitch), Madison Leonard (Ashley), and a great-grandfather to Owen and Lily Hopkins, Olivia "Ollie" Harding, Mattie Katherine Harding, and Leo Stauts. Uncle to Tom Finley (Dee) and grand niece Patricia Stout (Johnny)
Jack E Wilson will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his community. love for his family and his passion for helping others. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the impact he made. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 19th at First United Methodist Church Marietta, GA with visitation 1 -1:55 PM.
