I was a K assistant in Gunnar’s class…I am so sorry for your loss. Gunnar was a vivid kiddo with a shining light that invited all around him.  I was delighted to see him grow as a person and friend during his time at Londonderry.

I am sorry  I am just hearing of Gunnar’s passing. My thoughts are with him and his family as you navigate these difficult times.

I will always remember Gunnar as my son, Henry's, first and best friend at Londonderry. For four years they were inseparable in school. If you saw one of them, the other was not far behind. I have many fond memories of them happily playing their pretend game of "Creature", building together, and annoying Henry's older sister with their Nerf guns. This drawing is of their "creatures" as they called them that were central to their pretend game that they spent many a recess playing together. I will always remember Gunnar for his quick wit, hilarious sense of humor, and the sweet, but mischievous twinkle in his eye. I am heartbroken for all who knew and loved such a talented, and kind young man. 

Although Gunnar and Henry were separated by 2000 miles, whenever they had a chance to visit it was as if no time at all had passed and they would pick right up where they left off. This was a particularly fun, spring day playing mini golf.  We will always cherish our memories of sweet Gunnar.

Gunnar and Hannah were buddies! He was one of the best parts of her childhood memories! He is forever in our hearts!

George & Gunnar drifted apart when they chose different high schools, and we later moved out of state.   Those early years he truly felt like part of our family.  He was extremely bright & funny & shined light on others.  He was a big part of George’s childhood & early teens.   We loved him then and we always will. ❤️

Gunner came to every one of George’s birthday parties, elementary through middle school.   Always a Star Wars theme & often included swimming and a nerf gun battle.  He had a knack for adapting to any situation.  

George met Gunnar at Black Mountain Elementary and they spent a lot of time together while there & in middle school at BASIS, carpooling together 5 days a week approx 15 miles each way.  He was like a 4th brother to George.  He always  kept us entertained in the car! 

Whenever Gunnar had a sleepover with George, he was always the first one up in our house (of 3 boys).   I would find him sitting on the couch & make him a hot chocolate while my coffee brewed.   We would chat while he patiently waited for George to roll out of bed and for the Saturday morning chocolate chip pancake ritual. 

Just wanted to share another picture. This one is from when all of us were still in Arizona and Gunnar and Lauryn were at NAU. Whenever I look at these kinds of pictures, I just think of all of the fun stuff that we did together and how much I miss him. ❤️

Gunnar and I originally met during our freshman year of high school and became best friends towards our senior year. I’ve known him for such a long time, and he was someone who constantly made sure I knew that he cared about me. Close to a week or two before he passed, he gave me a phone call, which I couldn’t answer at the time, and he left me a voicemail that had me rolling on the floor laughing. When I called him back, he just told me that he had called for no apparent reason and wanted to see if I was doing alright. The last time I saw him in person was New Year’s. Lauryn and Gunnar had driven up from Atlanta and we went to a Sierra Ferrell concert where I live in Nashville. It was honestly such an incredibly fun night and I will never forget how much love I felt for my two best friends. Lauryn and I are celebrating our 10 years of friendship in August and I know that it won’t be the same without such an amazing person with us. 

We have no words to express how much we all sadden for your sorrow.    Our hearts are heavy and our thoughts are with you.  With deepest sympathy..... 

Gunnar and I met through Lauryn when we all attended high school together. Although he and I didn’t spend a lot of time together, he was one of, if not the funniest, most quick-witted, and most genuine people I’ve ever met. Gunnar was the type of person to make you laugh so hard you cry or until your sides hurt. I’ll always remember him for making people smile and laugh. He was a wonderful human being and certainly a person that will be remembered by everyone who knew him. He will be incredibly missed, and loved always. Sending hugs and condolences to his family, friends, and anyone who knew and loved him🤍

Sorry I never had the privilege of meeting Gunnar. After reading such beautiful tributes I can see we have lost a valued  person, one that touched many lives. Deepest condolences to family and friends, May his memories live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Especially to his loving mother, Susie, who will be missing him till eternity. 

When I think about Gunnar,  I think about every time I drove by Desert Ridge Mall and saw Gunnar’s big beautiful smile shining down on me, and it always made me smile too.

Bruce and I send our deepest condolences for this unimaginable loss. No words are enough to express our sorrow. Reading through the memories it’s clear that Gunnar was loved deeply by so many people and touched everyone he knew. We are keeping his family and friends in our heart. 

We knew Gunnar when he was a little fella but he was feisty! When I think of times with Gunnar I smile - because we were usually having fun (hayrides thru the yard,  birthday parties, Myrtle beach vacation, hanging out at the pool & many more good times). Gunnar was one of the sweetest and most giving souls I have had the privilege of knowing. He was a mentor to my son Josh for 7 years and babysat him weekly. This is a picture of a Minecraft shield they made together. Our hearts are broken over the loss of Gunnar. There are so many memories that will live in our hearts. I thank you Gunnar for the positive influence you had on Josh’s life and on so many of our lives. You always lit up a room with your presence. We will miss you greatly in physical form and please know your spirit lives on and we love you! To Gunnar’s family please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Dear Gunnar was a bright, kind, thoughtful and generous young man who will be missed by those lucky enough to have known him. He was talented, charming, and witty - and oh that smile! My fondest memories of Gunnar were seen through the eyes of his grandparents, Paul and Shirley Schrope. Their eyes sparkled and their faces lit up while talking about their many times spent with him while he was a small boy living in Harrisburg, PA. He gave them such joy and they were so very proud of him in every way. After the move to AZ, they treasured the weekly phone calls and were so very pleased he was happy in his new home there.

Gunner was a person who had a significant impact on my life. From the moment I met him, I knew that he was someone special. I still remember the first time I met him, he came over to introduce himself to possibly babysit me, an 8 year old boy. At the time I thought of it as a monotonous task because I just wanted to stay home alone and do my own thing, like every kid my age probably would. However, very quickly it didn’t turn into a task but a friendship. We used to do all sorts of things together such as play Minecraft, Halo, and Magic The Gathering. I remember one time my parents had to go out of town for a couple of days due to business issues so I ended up sleeping over at his house. I was so excited that nothing could contain me. We ended up staying up until 5 A.M. playing Minecraft and Magic The Gathering…since I made him. I will remember all of these memories throughout my life and store them in my heart because Gunner truly meant something to me. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and appreciated, and his infectious energy and positive attitude were contagious. Gunner was a mentor to me, and he helped guide me through some of the toughest challenges I faced in my personal and professional life. He was always there to lend a listening ear or offer sage advice, and he had a wealth of knowledge and experience that he was always willing to share with my 8 year old brain. He inspired me to be more courageous and to speak up for what I believed in, even when it meant going against the grain. Gunner had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around and make others laugh. He always knew how to make the most of every moment and enjoy life to the fullest. Sadly, Gunner is no longer with us, but his impact on my life and many others will never be forgotten. He taught me so much about leadership, integrity, and the power of positivity. I will always be grateful for the time that I spent with him and the lessons that he imparted on me. Rest in peace, Gunner.

It’s been forever since we communicated in any way and for that I apologize. I remember being so excited to see Gunnar at my baby shower.  It was no surprise to hear he became a sweet, intelligent and talented young man. I cannot pretend to have any words to take away your pain. I can only say we are praying for you. You helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life and if I can be there for you to listen while you cry, yell, vent, reminisce, or any other reason, please know you only have to call.
We never know why our loved ones have to leave us and as a parent we should not have to outlive our child. Gunnar was extremely loved by everyone whose life he touched and the void left behind by his passing will never be filled but I pray each day that you will one day smile through the tears because of the positive memories.  I love you! Hugs and prayers to you.

Susie and Bobby- our deepest condolences on the tragic passing of your sweet Gunnar. You are in our hearts. We first met all of you through mountain biking where Trevor first learned to play Mahon with Gunnar and Jake. In fact he still plays today! We have lasting memories from our trip to NZ/AUS in 2016 with Gunnar and Bobby. I hope someday you will find peace in the memories you have of your beloved son ❤️

There are no words I can write to ease your loss. But I am deeply and truly sorry for your pain. Losing a child is never easy. Thinking of you and sending prayers during this difficult time. 

Gunnar, in the 4 1/2 years you were in a relationship with Lauryn, I wish I would have told you in plain words how much I appreciated and loved you for the way you loved my daughter. For the way you doted on her like a princess. For the way you did  everything for her at home so that she could focus on law school. For the way I felt safe with her living in a big city knowing you were with her to protect and care for her. For getting into all her hobbies and always being up for whatever she wanted to do and for  being the paw-fect cat dad. For being her best friend and soul mate. For the mutual respect, love, compassion, and admiration you had for one another. You were a brilliant conversationalist, witty, engaging, analytical, and sharp. You were a talented musician. You were loyal and true to her and those you loved. And now you leave a very deep void for all of us. 

We loved spending time with you in Cave Creek and Flagstaff, on vacation to Disneyland, Orange County, and later San Diego, and most recently around Atlanta. We’ll never fully understand why you had to go, but you will live on in countless memories and will be missed by our family and all who loved you beyond measure.

Gunnar, from the day we met I knew you were a good person and such a perfect partner for my little cousin, Lauryn. Thank you for being a part of our Colombian family and for all the family conversations. You made us laugh and we loved you for who you are and how much you loved Lauryn. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. ❤️ 

All of us at Local Jonny’s in the early years remember Gunnar jamming with David Sheehy on Wednesday nights. He was such a light, so talented, so kind and is so missed. Our hearts are with you, Bobby and Susie. I am looking back through photos trying to find some of Gunnar at LJs and will share with you. I’m sending so much love to you. Thinking back on these memories warms my heart and breaks it all at once.
