family on April 20, 2023. He was born in Dothan, Alabama on February 16, 1946 to Linton
Collins Warren and Martha Jane Faulkner (Warren) Payne who preceded him in death.
After attending Marion Military Institute, he transferred and graduated from the University of
Alabama with a degree in Broadcasting, Journalism and Marketing. Lee started his career at
Taft Broadcasting Company as announcer and program director at the Alabama Educational
Television Network and was then hired by IBM in 1969. Shortly after starting work with IBM, his
country called him to serve. In the Army he was the News Director of the Armed Forces Radio
and Television Network and TV-Education Officer serving in Korea and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He
returned to continue his career with IBM in 1973. During his 32 years at IBM he won many
awards for providing computer business solutions to customers and was considered a “pioneer”
in the emerging field of interactive computer communications. Upon emergence of the “new”
world wide web, he was a critical resource for small businesses to create websites. After
retirement in 2001, he founded Internet Resource Center, Inc. focused on assisting businesses
to grow through the use of websites. His passion to support and encourage his customers
continued up until his death.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by three brothers (Billy, Lynn, Linton) and
a sister (Marianne Payne). He is survived by his wife, Alma Joanna Warren of Marietta,
Georgia; son, Eugene “Gene” Lee Warren II his wife (Kelly), grandchildren Sarah Frances &
Faulkner Warren of Mobile, AL; daughter, Marcia Warren Nally (Scott), grandchildren Jackson
and Marianne of Marietta, GA; step daughter, Joanna Sisson Rowell (Mike), grandchildren
Elizabeth, Rob, and Eve of Fort Worth, TX; and step daughter, Jennarie Sisson Joseph (Derek),
grandchildren Gavin, Charlotte, Lauren, and Matthew of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by
his brother Manning Warren of Louisville, KY and Barcelona, Spain and his sister, Jenine
Mitchell of Mobile, AL.
The family will receive guests for visitation between the hours of 12pm and 1pm on Thursday,
April 27 at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Chapel, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA. A
Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1pm followed by a reception. Burial service will be
Friday, April 28 at 10 am at Forrest Cemetery, 700 S 15th Street, Gadsden, AL.
