Eugene Walter O'Neill Jr.

Eugene Walter O’Neill JR, “Gene”, age 83, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on May 2, 2023. Gene was born in Somerville, New Jersey on June 20, 1939, to the late Eugene Walter O’Neill and Antoinette O’Neill.

In 1961, Gene graduated from Notre Dame, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduating from Officer’s Candidate school, he proudly served as an officer in the United States Navy for six dedicated years. In 2005, he retired as Director of Logistics from the Lorillard Tobacco Company after thirty years of dedicated service.

Gene was a superfan of Notre Dame and loved watching their football games and was passionate about playing golf. He loved spending time with his family, including watching movies, doing crossword puzzles with his wife, Irene, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He will be dearly missed.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Irene O’Neill; sons, Eugene W. O’Neill III and Jeff O’Neill (Bill); daughter, Karen Robinson, and grandchildren Reilly, Trey, Reid, and Ella; his loving twin sister, Antoinette O’Neill, and many extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life service to honor Mr. Eugene Walter O’Neill JR. will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 1:00 pm at HM Patterson Canton Hill, 1157 Old Canton Rd, Marietta, Georgia 30068.
