He graduated from Duquesne University after serving in the Air Force. It was there that he met his beloved Patty Jane, his wife of 57 years. Dan worked for CT Corporation System, who transferred them from Pittsburgh, to Atlanta, to Boston, and then finally back to Atlanta, where they settled into the suburbs for the remainder of their days together.
Dan loved to serve his community via the Catholic church, through both service and song. He sang for many years with the Holy Family church choir, and years later sang in the choir at St. Ann’s. He delivered meals for the St. Ann’s community, navigating by old school maps, and even in his 80’s, he loved to go “read to the old people” at a local senior center. He also spent several seasons with the Cobb Community Chorus.
Dan was famous for being a “baby whisperer” – he never met a baby that didn’t love him! He adored his extended family, his children and grandchildren, his wife, and of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved playing golf and meeting up with his extended family on vacations at Hilton Head.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wynn Sullivan, and his wife Patricia Rifko Sullivan.
He is survived by his sister Claire Repcheck (Jack), his loving children Dan Sullivan (Stefanie), Lynn Clark (Greg), and grandchildren Nate and Jessica Sullivan, and Dean Clark.
The family will receive guests between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Thursday August 10th at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday August 11th at the Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta, GA.
He will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or MUST Ministries.
