I was saddened to learn of Cindy's passing recently. She and I recently reconnected , all by circumstance and coincidence, after 50 some years .   It just happened we both lived in the Atlanta area, just miles from one another - Cindy in Marietta and myself in Roswell. 

I knew Cindy in Hamilton NY in the early 1960's and we lived close to one another briefly and played together until her family moved away by NY.  We were young and never kept in touch.  

Reconnecting with Cindy by chance was amazing and we planned to get together and reminisce about Hamilton. We were never able to accomplish this ,  playing phone tag and letting life get in the way . 

Rest in peace my sweet friend.  I know you are with the angels. I will always cherish our one conversation after those many many years.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Lauren and Doug - your Mom was such a sweet and good person, who loved you all so much.  Lauren, every time we visited, she always talked about your boys and loved them with all her heart.  Know that she will always be with you and Doug and both your families. 
I still can't believe she is gone, and will miss her greatly.  We will always think and pray for her and your family.

I just learned of my dear friend going to be with the Angels in heaven.  I have known Cindy for over 20 years first, as a wonderful house keeper (she made everything sparkle), confidant (we had great talks), and more importantly my friend.  We even bowled together in a silly league one season.  I moved away 6 years ago, but thought of Cindy so often and wished we could spend time together.  Miles between us made that unlikely.  She loved life, her family and was the most caring person I knew.  I am a better person having known Cindy.  May you rest in peace, my dear friend.

Cindy was one of the sweetest and  the most caring friend a person could ask for.   We met through a coworker of my husband.  I had just been diagnosed with heart failure and put on the heart transplant list.  She began helping me with keeping my house clean.  This turned into an incredible friendship.  We realized she would be there at least 2-3 hours extra because we spent time catching up from the last week.  We were both going through a lot and did our fair amount of crying.  At one point I was looking for a wheelchair.  She showed up a few weeks later with a wheelchair.  This was just who Cindy was.  She will be sorely missed.

Cindy will always remain close to our hearts as her smile lightened the room and her laughter brought joy to those around her.  She did so much for many others and expected nothing in return.  She was, is and will always be loved as the Erwin family was honored to know her.

To Lauren and Douglas and Scruffy too, Susan, Nancy and Carol, Cindy's Mom and your families ... Although I have only known Cindy since August of 2011 we connected immediately.  She became a great and awesome friend, employer, and even a cat sitter after only meeting me one time.  I will never forget our cleaning escapades, our laughs, our struggles, our long visits, me watching Lucy and cleaning for her when she went to visit her beloved daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren who brought smiles to her face and so much joy ... Her bringing me soup when I wasn't well - all the things my dear friend would do because she was a wonderful human being.  We believed in giving of ourselves to make the world a better place to live.  My heart feels broken and aches at the thought of not being able to try to help her one more time - to be there for her - to call her to see how she was doing - tell her yes - please stop by after work for a chat ... Our time getting to know each other more and spend more time together was cut way too short but yet I knew how generous and giving and thoughtful she was - always trying to help another human being with their troubles ..... always giving of herself.  I still cannot believe my Cindaloohoo is gone as we knew we would be forever friends no matter where we lived - it feels so surreal to me - but you are gone and I miss you so much already and I pray that you are "sleeping with the angels" as I always said to you before hanging up the telephone.  I also will never forget the last conversation we had over a week ago and her telling me that she really truly loved me and my partner Trudy - me, her and us as a couple.  That touched me so deeply and I will hold those words very close to my heart forever .....

I am deeply sorry and heartbroken for you and your family. I have the fondest and adoring childhood memories of your very beautiful mother. When I babysat for you two, your mother always treated me like one of her own. She often walked out to chat with me when seeing me playing in the culdesac, pulling up a chair in the driveway. She was so welcoming, loving, and out reaching. I know there are no words that are adequate, but my heart goes out to you both. My prayers are with you.

You were the shining light and diamond that molded Lauren and Doug into the incredible human beings that they are today; for you truly made them in your image, love and kindness. Your smile, your love for life and endless generosity will never be forgotten, the world truly is a better place for having you in it. Thank you for always be so patient, understanding and for being the rock that the rest of us were able to lean ourselves against all through high school and into college, you were a star! I know you will forever be looking and watching over your precious children, and let your heart not be troubled, for we will always be here for them, they are and forever will be part of our family.
