Carl Raymond Etter, age 81 of Marietta, Georgia, died Dec. 12, 2022 after a years long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He served as a teacher, vice principal and advocate for vocational education at Marietta High School for 32 years where he inspired many students to pursue their passions. In 1983 he created community around his lifelong passion for restoring corvettes and founded the Classic Glass Corvette Club that is still active today.
He was born in Murfreesboro, TN and the son of the late Eugene N. Etter and Mamie S. Etter. He is survived by his wife Tonie W. Etter, Marietta, GA; daughter Jennifer Gordon, Atlanta, GA; daughter and son in law Kristie and Scott Brown, Charleston, SC; sister and brother in law Carlene and Wayne Tenpenny, Jackson, TN; grandchildren Georgia Gordon and Jia Gordon, Atlanta, GA.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2022 in the main sanctuary at Marietta First United Methodist Church, 56 Whitlock Ave NW, Marietta, GA 30064 with Rev. Chad Loucks officiating. Please join us for refreshments in the reception hall following the service.
