Mrs. Bettie Holley, 91, of Marietta, entered her Heavenly home with her loving Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, 12 August. Bettie was born in Van Alystne, Texas on 1 December 1924 and grew up in Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas. Bettie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Rev. Henry Holley, and their three children, Nancy, of Kennesaw, Debbie, of Marietta, and Hank (Barbara), of Monterey County, California; sister, Donna Squire (Jim); granddaughters, Holli Thompson, Marion Holley; grandson, Dale Holley; great-grandsons, Alex Lane (Lyndsie), Matthew Lane; great-great-granddaughter, Callie; great-great-grandson, Ezra; and several nephews and nieces. Bettie married Henry Holley on 2 September 1949 and raised their children and managed their home while he was serving active duty in the Marines, many times overseas. During his ministry with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Bettie accompanied Henry on many occasions in the organizing and directing of Crusades. In foreign cities, Bettie mobilized the women to be involved in prayer and activity in pre-Crusade preparation and was a valuable asset to the success of these meetings. Bettie left a powerful witness of the love of God in the hearts and lives of many people, both locally and internationally. Bettie and Henry have lived in Indian Hills for 45 years. They have been members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church since 1985 where Bettie was a founder and teacher for 25 years of the first Ladies Sunday Bible Class – “Holley’s Angels.” Bettie also taught a Women’s Bible class for 15 years at Wieuca Road Baptist Church, Atlanta and conducted home Bible classes in East Cobb for many years. Her investment in countless women locally and around the world left a spiritual legacy that continues today. Bettie, “Henry’s beloved,” was a living testimony of a Godly woman as described in Proverbs 31, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” Visitation for friends will be on Monday, 15 August from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, at H.M. Patterson Funeral home on Old Canton Road, Marietta. A service of Celebration of life will be held at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Marietta on Tuesday 16 August at 11:00AM with Senior Pastor, Rev. Bryant Wright officiating. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, and in honor and memory of Bettie’s life, please consider donations to Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, johnsonferry.org, or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, billygraham.org.
