Barbara G. Townsend

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel, in Powder Springs, with Dr. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.

Ms. Townsend was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She lived most of her life in Cobb County. She attended Agnes Scott College. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Marietta. She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Leland Chapter #235. She worked for Bill Brown Insurance Company in Mableton.

Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Miller (John), of Jasper, and Valerie Townsend O’Neal (Frank Jr.), of Marietta; three grandchildren; Garron Gore (Elizabeth), Connor O’Neal, and Ian O’Neal; great grandson, Grayson Lee Gore.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bobby J. Townsend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Grand Chapter of Georgia, Order of the Eastern Star, P.O. Box 2436, Kennesaw, GA 30156.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
