Rev. Abe C. Nelson Jr. Passed away November 3rd, 2015. He was born in Montgomery County, North Carolina, Abe was the son of Abe C. Nelson, Sr. and Essie Overby, both who preceded Abe in Death. Along with his wife, Sara Burr, they celebrated 48 years of marriage until separated by Sara’s death in 2005. Together they bore 3 sons who are all survived by Abe. These are Abe C. Nelson, III of Chesterfield, VA and his wife Laura and their son Abe Nelson, IV; his son Ernest Nelson of Rapid City, SD and his wife Julie and their son Matthew; and his son David Nelson of Tallapoosa, GA and his wife Joan and his son David Nelson, Jr. Mr. Nelson is also survived by his Brother Calvin Nelson and family along with and Sister Doris Burroughs and Family. Mr. Nelson worked a long career in the electrical wholesale supply business. After 40 years he retired from Mid-south Electric Co. In his later years, Mr. Nelson was ordained and licensed into the Gospel Ministry. His late wife Sara helped support their radio ministry by making and selling peanut brittle. In most recent years, Mr. Nelson was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Marietta, Ga where he served as a deacon, Bible study teacher and supply preacher for his pastor. Mr. Nelson loved people and always had an encouraging word to those he met and he never failed to encourage people about their eternal destiny with God. Abe’s son, Pastor Ernest Nelson, along with his brothers, Abe and David, will officiate the funeral service. Mr. Nelson’s pastor, Rev. Lamar Clarke of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Marietta, GA will officiate the grave side service. Pallbearers include sons Abe and David Nelson, grandsons Matthew Nelson and Abe Nelson IV, and nephews Danny Hough and Ronnie Hough. Services will include a visitation Friday, November 6, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00pm, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia and the funeral service will be Saturday November 7, 2015 at 11:00am, in the Georgia Memorial Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Mr. Abe C. Nelson Jr., to the American Cancer Society.
